✨ Whirlpool Washer Door Won’t Unlock - Easy Fix ✨

There are a few possible solutions to try if your Whirlpool front loader door won't unlock:

1. Check the wash cycle: Sometimes, the door won't unlock until the wash cycle has completed. This is a safety feature on many front loaders.

 2. Check the water supply: Another safety feature is that the door won't unlock if there is still water in the machine. Check the water supply to make sure there is no blockage or interruption.

3. Check the drain pump: If there is water in the machine and the door won't unlock, the problem may be with the drain pump.  Take the drain tube from out of the standpipe in the wall behind the washer and put it into a bucket.  This will allow the water to manually drain out of the washer.  Now that the water is out, the door should open.

4. Check the power supply: If the machine has lost power or is malfunctioning, it may not unlock the door. Try resetting the breaker or unplugging the machine for 5 minutes, then plugging it back in.

5. Manually unlock the door: On some models, there is a manual release that you can use to unlock the door.

  • Unplug your washer.
  • Remove the 3 screws from behind the top panel.
  • Slide the top panel toward the back by 1 inch.
  • Lift off top panel.
  • Reach inside the washer from the top and pull up on the round plastic manual release. It’s the size of a dime.  This unlocks the door and resets the washer👍
  • Set the top panel back and slide it toward the front.
  • Install the 3 screws that hold it on.

Many times your front load washer door not unlocking is caused by having too many suds due to using too much detergent.  Try using 1/2 as much detergent.  Make sure your detergent is (He) High Efficiency Detergent.  Regular detergent will cause way too much suds.
